International Ph.D. seminars

Since 2003 the RSC has organized a biennial series of International PhD seminars for students of Cambridge University, Heidelberg University, Sorbonne Nouvelle, and Leiden University. In the last few years this PhD Seminar has become so successful that it was developed into an annual activity of the RSC, including also PhD students from such notable universities as the London School of Economics, the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris, the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies in Berlin, the European University Institute in Florence, and the Graduate Institute of International and Developement Studies in Geneva.

The International PhD Seminar at the RSC offers the students a forum to present their research project and receive feedback from their peers at other European universities who likewise work on a PhD thesis dealing with U.S. history and transatlantic relations. This activity also enables the PhD students to further develop their network of contacts and to become better acquainted with the RSC staff and RSC holdings.
