We are pleased to announce that the Netherlands American Studies Association will hold its 27th annual Amerikanistendag on Friday, 3 June 2022. The event will be hosted by our colleagues at the Roosevelt Institute for American Studies in the historic city center of Middelburg.
The Amerikanistendag is a student conference and serves as a forum for students and recent graduates at the BA, (Res)MA, and PhD level to present their research to fellow students and scholars of American history and American studies in the Netherlands.
The day will also include the award ceremony for the Theodore Roosevelt American History Award 2022, a prestigious prize for the best MA thesis in American history and American studies in the Netherlands.
If you would like to present your research and meet other students and scholars working on similar topics, please join us! We invite papers on any topic related to the USA and/or the Americas writ large. Approaches from all disciplines are welcome: history, literature, cultural studies, economics, political science, law, gender studies, philosophy, etc. Our aims are both to showcase individual work, and to gather current interests and methods from a new generation of American Studies scholars.
Deadlines and procedures:
– Please submit a document with your contact information and an abstract of your presentation (maximum 200 words) by Friday, 22 April 2022. This can be sent to: board.nasa@gmail.com.
– Accepted papers will be grouped into thematic sessions; presentations will last 15 minutes.
– The program will be available sometime in late April at http://netherlands-america.nl and on the RIAS website: www.roosevelt.nl.
We look forward to seeing you in Middelburg in June!
