On a regular basis, the RIAS invites PhD students from across Europe to share their ongoing research at the Institute.
The RSC held its first international PhD seminar in 2003, for a small group of invitees from Cambridge, Heidelberg, Sorbonne Nouvelle, and Leiden. Since then, these seminars, which allow PhD students in American history and American studies to present their work in a relaxed, intimate setting, have become a regular fixture of the Institute's activities.
Over the years, the seminar has hosted students from a wide range of institutions, including London School of Economics, Oxford University, the Institut d'Etudes Politiques in Paris, the John F. Kennedy Institute for North American Studies in Berlin, the European University Institute in Florence, the University of California, Berkeley, and Harvard.
The next PhD seminar will be held 2-4 May 2018. Please find the program here.
