Professor Bruce Kuklick was the Fulbright-Dow scholar at the RSC from January through April 2008. In 2017 he returned to Middelburg as the inaugural visiting scholar at the RIAS.
During his visit in 2008 he finished writing a handbook on American history for use in introductory courses. His purpose was to write a political/religious history that would provide a basis for studying the development of the United States as a nation. Alongside this project Bruce Kuklick traveled extensively throughout the Netherlands. This included guest talks at Dow Benelux, at several universities and at the annual Netherlands American Studies Association (NASA) meeting.
During his 2017 visit, Bruce Kuklick delivered a series of lectures on his new research project, which explores the American fascination with European fascism through the medium of film. He also delivered a special guest lecture at the official launch of the RIAS, titled ‘”American Visions of Franklin Roosevelt.”‘ After the lecture Ostrea Lyceum students had a photo moment with Professor Kuklick.
